Neve Please Leave!

Alan Dershowitz on Neve Gordon:

So here is my challenge to Neve Gordon: I visit Israel frequently, and am easily available for service of process. I invite Gordon to sue me for essentially restating in my own words what Prof. Plaut has said: It is my opinion that Neve Gordon has gotten into bed with neo-Nazis, Holocaust justice deniers, and anti-Semites. He is a despicable example of a self-hating Jew and a self-hating Israeli.

This blog has been up and running for nearly a year, and in this time I have neglected to cover a very sinister character on the Israeli landscape: Neve Gordon. Neve (pronounced Neev and meaning tooth or fang) has lived up to his name, biting into Israel from his snake-pit in Beersheva. Gordon, head of the Department of Politics and Government at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev has written an op-ed in the L.A. Times that has even angered contributors to the University. He writes:

But today, as I watch my two boys playing in the yard, I am convinced that it is the only way that Israel can be saved from itself.

Saved? Is that some kind of sick joke? Israel must be saved from the Arabs and so-called Israelis who are conspiring on their behalf! How twisted can one be to support a boycott against his own country, a country that is struggling to function amidst a tide of violent Muslims who support their compatriots?
He continues on to make another gaff:

For example, the effort begins with sanctions on and divestment from Israeli firms operating in the occupied territories,

This is the same secular European Jewish establishment that initiated the 1967 War with the Arabs in the first place! Now they are backtracking and calling Jewish land occupied? Occupied by who? Arabs? If one thinks that land belongs to non-Jews, than wouldn’t Tel-Aviv and Beersheva also be occupied? No, because conveniently Neve Gordon and his stooges live in those places-centers of anti-Israel academic activity.
Finally, Gordon comes to the conclusion that the world must “come down on Israel” to that his kids will live in an “apartheid free” country:

Nothing else has worked. Putting massive international pressure on Israel is the only way to guarantee that the next generation of Israelis and Palestinians-my two boys included — does not grow up in an apartheid regime.

Perhaps this arrogant, narcissistic ass should go and find another another part of the world to live in. Neve, why don’t you go to Iran and negotiate with Ahmadinejad about being more nice to dissidents? No, we are stuck you-and those like you. The real threat to your children’s future is from you and those who think like you.
