Silverstein On Mumbai Attacks

taken from KapoDickie - an Adventure in Jewish Self-Hatred

Little Dickie Defends the Mumbai Nazis - they were Not Anti-Semitic

As a public service, we are reprinting a blog entry from the Israellycool blog:
Silverstein Outdoes Himself

by Aussie Dave
Self-important windbag Richard Silverstein wants everyone to know that the Mumbai terrorists - who went out of their way to find the Jewish Chabad House
and murder Jews (in a city comprising approximately 18 million people, of which
about 5,000 are Jews) - were not anti-Semitic.

And he knows this because the terrorists never said even one anti-Semitic
word.

In the Forward, an Indian who spoke for hours with the Chabad House terrorist never indicated in his report that anti-Semitic words were spoken to him.

Brilliant!
Somehow, the fact that the terrorists may never have said “kikes” to Rabbi and Rebbetzin Holtzberg and the other Jewish victims as they murdered them in cold blood is hardly compelling evidence of the absence of anti-Semitic intent. Then again, the fact that Silverstein has a blog and claims to know what he is talking about is not compelling evidence of the presence of intellect.
If you don’t believe me, read his post, which includes the words “Jewish jihadis” and a comparison between the Mumbai terrorists and the “Hebron pogromists” (his words - not mine - for the more violent of the Jewish residents of Hebron who despite their terrible actions have not murdered anyone).

Beautiful story that parallels my own.

I never had the honor of meeting R' Kassorla. Before R' J.M., he was one of MDSC's last "good" rabbis.

(BTW, I hope to convert Ortho under the latter. Ahar kakh, will you still fault me for my status?)

I'm getting the feeling that you sympathized more with they SY anti-Zionist Muslims than with your fellow Zionist Jews who happen to be secular and/or left-wing and/or Ashkenazi.

What is SY? BTW: I didn't see your comments: sorry for not responding earlier.

"anti-Zionist Muslims"
ASDL: I have never identified with Muslims or anti-Zionists. You are the first person to inSINuate this.

"than with your fellow Zionist Jews who happen to be secular and/or left-wing and/or Ashkenazi."
ASDL: I am just a Jew. I don't subscribe to philosophies. Zionism isn't a replacement for Judaism.
In addition, when the Torah says:

ספר ויקרא פרק יט
וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ

The Torah is referring to Jews who are שומרי מצוות. This is an often misconstrued verse. רעך is your companion-someone who you congregate with-someone who shares your values.
All of the Rabbanim I studied with at Yeshiva were Ashkenazim-all of them were critical of anti-Torah elements-most of whom are of European origin. They singled out leftist Ashkenazim. I find it a great irony that you religiously attend a Sefardic synagogue. Sefaradim are the backbone of the Israeli right-wing and are impervious to the השכלה. Thank G-d!

With regards to Judaism I can only say that one should pursue original sources. Getting second-hand info from second-hand peddlers only results in disappointment. R' J.M. is a brilliant scholar. It is a great זכות to learn with him. May you become a Torah scholar like him and not another "chosen trouble-maker."

ASDL: Those were great days. You should know that even though I started to study with him-he refused to involve me in the conversion process until I studied properly first. He was the one who encouraged me to go to Israel and study properly in yeshiva. That is what I tried to convey to you unsuccessfully.

Before R' J.M., he was one of MDSC's last "good" rabbis.
ASDL: That is the catch. All real Rabbanim have something to offer but not all Jews are willing to develop themselves or commit their time and energy to doing so!

"will you still fault me for my status?"
ASDL: What status? No Orthodox בית דין will convert you unless you show understanding and commitment. You cannot have opinions that are against the Torah and חז"ל.
